Was Columbus the first non indigenous man to set foot in American Soil?

Who discovered America?

For most of us, the answer to that question is straightforward: Christopher Columbus. That’s what we were taught in school and that is why we celebrate Columbus Day. Yet it is far from clear-cut.

There are alternative theories about who got here first — some well-documented, others much more flimsy in their scholarship. There are various contenders for the title of “first” Who Was First? Among them The Vikings, The Romans, The Irish (check on St.Brendan’s legend), The Phoenicians, The Chinese and even the Ancient Israelites are some of the top contenders of who was the first to set foot in America.

While the historians, scientists and archeologists try to find who was the first one, at GB Downers Grove We are celebrating the Columbus day with a full schedule of GRACIE BARRA JIU JITSU and Self Defense, for the communities of Downers Grove, OaK Brook, Western Springs, Hinsdale, Lombard, La Grange, Naperville, Clarendon Hills, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn,  Burr Ridge and Aurora
