Jamil’s fighting marathon!
This month GB Downers’ fighting team member Jamil Fakhoury engaged on a competition Marathon with amazing results!
Jamil competed this month for 3 weeks in a row in a total of 23 matches! On October 5th Jamil who’s a firefighter in Evanston and a father of two with twins on the way,found time between his woking schedule and his family to compete in Long Beach, California in the World Championship Master Seniors where he got 2 silver medals including one in the absolute.
His father,Mr. Salim Fakhoury, also competed there in the Blue Belt Senior 5, winning 1st in his division and 2nd in the Absolute. The very next weekend, October 12, Jamil traveled back home to become the Absolute champion of the Fall International Open in Chicago.
Then on October 20th he was in Queens, New York competing for a third weekend in a row in the Abu Dhabi New York Trials where he won 3rd place in his division and was a semifinalist in Absolute. It’s was an intense preparation with Prof. Carlos Lemos Jr for the competition Marathon but at the end Jamil is now a name to be respected among the top blue belts in the World. We couldn’t be prouder of our fighters Father and son Jamil and Mr.Salim!
